Missiological Snapshot: The Vantage Point of Demographics
The True Story of the Whole World provides the backdrop for our identity as God’s witnesses whoever we are and wherever we go. We are called to declare with our words and demonstrate with our lives that Jesus Christ is Lord (Acts 1:8; 1 Peter 2:4–10). The fact that we are having this conversation, I believe, is evidence of the fact that God’s Spirit is always moving among, in, and through us.
This Missiological Snapshot comes from the Vantage Point of Demographics. In this video I compare today’s demographics in the US with those from the mid-twentieth-century. This is because many of the strategies and methods we tend to use for sharing the gospel were developed back then.
Also, while this video focuses specifically on the US, I am convinced that no matter where you live, understanding your demographics helps you to better understand your cultural context.
Let me be clear from the start, I see these demographic changes as positive, God-designed-opportunities to bear witness of the gospel in relevant ways.
Our attentiveness to our changing contexts helps us to better understand and engage with people in our neighborhoods, places of work or study, and even in our families in relevant ways.
